Gaelynn Lea won NPR Music's Tiny Desk Contest in 2016, and not long after she hit the road with her husband Paul. So far she has toured in 45 states and 9 countries, captivating audiences around the world with her unique mix of haunting original songs and traditional fiddle tunes.
Gaelynn Lea has opened for well-known bands such as Wilco, The Decemberists, LOW, The Jayhawks & the industrial rock supergroup Pigface. She has also appeared in several major festivals over the years, including SXSW, Winnipeg Folk Festival & the Reykjavik Arts Festival. Since the Coronavirus pandemic halted her traveling, Gaelynn has been performing a weekly concert on YouTube for fans all over the world every Sunday: youtube.com/gaelynnlea
Gaelynn also does speaking engagements about Disability Rights, finding inner freedom & accessibility in the arts. So far she's been able to share her perspective on PBS NewsHour, The Science of Happiness Podcast, The Moth Radio Hour & through two widely-viewed TEDx Talks. She is currently working on a memoir about her touring adventures that she plans to release in 2022.
On September 4th, Gaelynn Lea released a new album: "The Living Room Sessions - Gaelynn Lea LIVE". It was recorded in her apartment - each piece is hand-picked from her weekly shows on YouTube. All of the instrumental tracks are based on improvisational prompts she received from her online audience; they were created on the spot using only her violin, her looping pedal, and her imagination.
