About:
"There is a very English, well pronounced pop that takes in Jonathan Richman, Crowded House and Squeeze, yet the fact that this is a predominantly home recorded solo effort indicates great things to come from Keegan. This should be on radio playlists country wide. Who knows what he is capable of next."- LOUDER THAN WAR
Dave Keegan is a songwriter based in York, UK who writes the sort of literate & melodic pop songs that everyone says you don’t hear any more.
His new, self-titled album is a collection of 10 songs that tip the hat to a line of classic English pop from The Beatles through to XTC, Nick Lowe, Squeeze and Neil Finn, Wilco & Spoon over the pond.
After fronting the bands Wooden Horse and lo beams in the early noughties, he recorded a couple of solo eps and an album with ex-bandmate, Simon Snaize before working on the songs that would
feature on his latest record.
He had two goals in mind for this - one was that he would write, play, record and mix everything himself. And the other was that it would be a big, silly pop album with fuzzy guitars, warbling synths, layers of harmonies and no singer-songwriter stuff.
And he almost succeeded.
It has been picking up airplay from the BBC this month, a short promotional tour of the UK is planned and the album is out now on Desert Mine Music.
